Club Contest Success!

Peter, Loai, and Ilias with Contest Chair Pamoda

Wow, what an amazing evening on 20 September 2017 at Nuremberg Toastmasters!

It was our Fall Club Contest, with competitions in Table Topics (impromptu speeches) and Humorous Speeches. A fun and informative event!

Pamoda, the Contest Chair, started the evening off with Table Topics by asking Peter, Loai, and Ilias the question “What makes kicking goals so important?” They had 1-2 minutes to respond spontaneously and we gained some good insights from the contestants on the topic. In the end, Loai received 1st Place in the Table Topics contest.

This was followed by the Humorous Speech competition. Naomi entertained us with stories of tea-drinking and dancing lessons in Japan growing up. Marc told us about some of the trouble he’s gotten into by offering a bit too much feedback. And Skylor shared how some of her failures have caused both embarrassment and growth for her. Marc got good feedback from his speech – he took away 1st Place!

Loai and Marc will represent our Club at the Area Contest on 23 September, where 1st Place winners from all clubs in the Nuremberg/Erlangen/Bamberg area will compete. The excitement continues!

Our President!

But, wait, there’s more! At the end of the evening, proud Club President Peter received the club’s “President’s Distinguished Club” ribbon for 2016/17 from Toastmasters International. The President’s award represents the top achievement for a club and Nuremberg achieved this for the 7th year in a row! Congratulations!!

Thanks to all club members and the record-setting 11 guests that attended for making it a fun, competitive evening!
