It was a wonderful day that Jutta Finger chose for us to go hiking togther with our families. This took place after an unsuccessful rained out hiking event planned one week before. We started off fresh at around 10:30 setting forth in a southerly direction leaving the Lichtenegg Castle ruins behind us. These ruins we would visit later. The hike took us up and up to the so called Turkish Wall where the men and boys would climb up and say: “I am king of the Castle”! We also passed some beautiful flowers – the lady slippers. Have a look at the picture – don’t they just look like some shoes? After around 2 hours of walking we had a lunch break in a small village in a beer garden. There was quite some activity going on with a band playing and the church bells ringing. We had a hearty lunch and all ordered their favourite Franconian meal. Yummy!

We had lots of good conversation with some story telling and my dogs got some bones to chew on!!! After lunch we set off back to Lichtenegg which we reached within an hour via another sunny route. Finally we visited the Lichtenegg ruins. From the top of the castle we had a view of the whole area –  far and wide. What a great hike and day we had, ending it with some iced coffee at the Lichtenegg ruins.

Thanks to Jutta for organizing this hike!
